for those of you who have been following my blog for a while know that i am having a love affair with the dominican republic. so its no surprise that another one of my favorite homes is in punta cana.
it’s also probably not a surprise that its the home of a very chic couple- interior designer bunny williams and antique and showroom owner john rosselli. i’ve been a follower and admirer for years. mr rosselli’s style and taste has helped shaped my own aesthetic and influenced greatly the things i love- bone inlaid anglo- indian furniture, teak and bone boxes, blue and white ceramics, hurricanes, ikat’s, suzani’s, ebony and ivory penwork, chinoiserie. for me necessary luxuries!
la colina has no surprises! it’s as absolutely chic and perfect as you’d expect. architect ernesto buch (same architect of annette and oscar) partnered on their punta cana paradise. a southern style raised cottage with Palladio accents made out of coral stone and stucco by local craftsmen with perfect attention to detail. the end result was a dream home with high ceilings, full of light and with wide porches for lounging and entertaining.
the interior design philosophy was easy- bunny kept the background simple and used what they already owned and loved. everything was slip-covered if off white duck or ocean blue cotton, rattan furniture was added, bedrooms were painted tropical inspired colors and print was introduced with pillows and bed-covers. all this simplicity allowed their collections and loves to take center stage.
here’s the only surprise- chic is easy! keep it simple, showcase your collections, keep it light and airy, fill your home with your favorite things! in the case of la colina, filled with john, bunny and my favorite things!
la colina is featured beautifully in bunny’s book point of view– get it and get inspired!
