WHAT I LIKE - MY FAVORITE ROOMS

Family rooms simply need to be family friendly- comfortable, casual, cozy and believe it of not, colorful! i love white, but not the most friendly- go blue, go green, go yellow!

family rooms need lots of comfortable seating with lot’s of pillows- print, pattern and texture add warmth and create a cozy lived-in environment. a large ottoman or coffee table is perfect in the center of room for ipads, papers, books, and everyone’s feet. big wood boxes are necessary on tables to hide remote controls, coasters. ipods and anything else you don’t want your guests to see.

built-ins are a must! lots of shelves for books, cabinets to hide all the media and to store all the fun- the games, the videos, the dvd’s. every family rooms needs a tv, perfectly placed in the built-ins, however, probably should be off more than it’s on. i love family photographs on shelves and on tables, an essential detail- personal and perfect!

lighting is important- scones on built-in’s, swing arm lamps on the walls, lamps on tables and floor lamps next to chairs. rugs are a must- comfort is key and laying on the floor is a given. last but not least, my favorite family room essential are baskets, several around for blankets, dog toys and one of my passions, magazines! functional and friendly!

lot’s of chairs, lot’s of pillows, lot’s of comfort- it’s essential! have fun with art, have fun with color, have fun with print- it’s allowed!

Just found your blog through cote de texas and wanted to say how much i loved your house beautiful cover! i sent it to a client who also has a barrel vaulted ceiling like this to show her that yes, you can in fact hang drapery panels at different heights. wonderful job! I could definitely live here. do you have the address? i have my moving truck ready and waiting!
