  • black- beguiling, mysterious, commanding- dramatic!

    its amazing what some black lacquered paint can do to a room- instant drama! i love a black lacquered bathroom, kitchen, study or dining room. to get the most dramatic look everything has to be black- trim, walls, moldings. black top to bottom. black drama!

    add lots of mirrors, beautiful lighting, eclectic art and a black chinoiserie armoire or screen, and you instantly have a chic, elegant, sophisticated- dramatic space!

    in our home, the favorite room of all of our guests is the black guest bathroom. because of where it is located in the house it usually is the last room everyone sees. all of the other rooms in our house are predominantly white, therefore there is quite a response when entering the all black lacquered and mirrored space. there’s always a gasp and an aah! followed by “this is my favorite room”!

    everyone needs a black lacquered room, there own black lacquered box! a chic, elegant, sophisticated, instantly dramatic space!

    Mark, Any tips for painting a room a dark color? Should you paint your window trim and baseboards the same color (rather than leaving them white)?

      hi heather- thanks for the note and thank you for following blog! yes- everything should be painted- trim , moldings, door, etc. if you cant lacquer get high gloss black paint. i like benjamin moore. happy new year! my best- MDS

    Ohhh dahhling.. how perfectly gorgeous! I once had a bedroom with black walls a mohagony bed & black/white toile canopy..it can be a classic.
