living in manhattan has it’s perks, those are obvious and it has a few disadvantages- one being small spaces!
what to do? do what the best do- start with a monochromatic color palette to make the space feel larger, make the space flexible as possible, maximize storage, create a functional floor plan with moveable pieces that perform unexpected functions- most important, make the space beautiful! do it like stephen sills and james huniford did it, not just once but twice- chic times two!
these guys are the best at everything they do! their first manhattan apartment followed all the above tips. one surprise, none of the items in this one room apartment were grand or expensive, just beautiful! you can’t say that about their most recent apartment- filled with jean-michel frank pieces, cy twombly art and jean arp sculptures- fabulous, chic and all the best!
sills and huniford are known for their refined eye, monochromatic color schemes, exquisite editing, furniture arrangements like fine art, eclectic order and function. whether it’s their country house (see previous post here) or either of these apartments, when sills and huniford do it- in this case, it’s the best times two!
