last night was the most anticipated night in fashion, the 2012 met gala to celebrate the opening of schiaparelli and prada: impossible conversations, and believe me we have lots to talk about!

anna wintour, the gala’s co-chair, said it best yesterday when she was interviewed on the red carpet, “tonight we are celebrating two italian women, miuccia prada and elsa schiaparelli, two amazing designers with many things in common, but most importantly they both believed in breaking rules in fashion!”

if there is a night to break some rules, take some risks- the met ball is the night to do it! the night was filled with lots of pink, elsa schiaparelli’s signature color, along with lots of feathers, florals, ruffles and sequins.

sarah jessica parker and lily collins both stood out in floral spring 2012 valentino couture confections, cate blanchett and florence welch, two of my absolute favorites, in extraordinary fall 2012 alexander mcqueen gowns, kirsten dunst beyond chic in rodarte, and many, many, many ladies in fun, witty and rule breaking prada dresses- imagine that!

it’s the met gala, therefore, take a cue from miuccia and elsa- break some rules, take some risks- but be chic! that’s my rule!
