SOMETHING SPECIAL

FRIDAY FAVORITES HAVE BEEN MOSTLY ABOUT A MUST HAVE ACCESSORY OR A NEED TO HAVE FASHION ITEM. HOW ABOUT SOMETHING FOR THE HOME? SOMETHING THAT IS CHIC, GLAMOROUS, STYLISH- ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! HOW ABOUT A COROMANDEL SCREEN- HOW ABOUT SOMETHING SPECIAL!

WHEN I THINK OF SOMETHING I’VE ALWAYS WANTED, DREAM ABOUT, COVET, THINK ABOUT CONSTANTLY, POSSIBLY CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT- IT HAS TO BE COROMANDEL SCREEN! IN SIMPLE ENGLISH, A CHINOISERIE SCREEN, ORIGINALLY MADE IN CHINA AND APPEARED IN EUROPE DURING THE LATE 17TH CENTURY. CHIC BEHIND A SOFA, GLAMOROUS BEHIND A BED, STYLISH ANYWHERE, EVERYWHERE- ABSOLUTELY ANYWAY!

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I COULDN’T AFFORD ONE, NOW I DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT PLACE FOR ONE, HOWEVER, ONE THING IS CERTAIN, IN MY NEXT HOME, MAYBE THE LIVING ROOM, POSSIBLY THE DINING ROOM, NOT RULING OUT THE MASTER BEDROOM, THERE WILL BE ONE!

EVERYONE DESERVES SOMETHING SPECIAL! FOR ME IT’S A COROMANDEL SCREEN- IT’S EVERYTHING! NO PLANS TO MOVE ANYTIME SOON, THEREFORE, I’LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR ONE! BUT LET’S BE CLEAR- I WILL ABSOLUTELY HAVE ONE!

  1. Thought something was wrong…the first photo of coco chanel’s
living room is really the living room of Ellen Graham photograper’s ny living room.

  2. I totally agree with James, but the original sofas in her apartment were much more elegant than these replacements.
Mark, why not do a blog of papier mache items with chinoiserie design.
I have been collecting boxes, inkwell sets and various other items.
A smaller way to get that “look”.

  3. It was years ago seeing chanel’s apartment in one of the mags that i first became aware of “the screens.” it was wonderful to see all the different ways they’ve been used and especially to revisit the divine chanel, who for me has never been surpassed, sorcoress that she was.
