yesterday i did a post on one of my favorite women of all time- jane birkin! she is the epitome of chic, so chic she has an hermès bag named after her! not just any hermès bag but the hermès bag- the birkin bag!

in 1981, the chief executive of hermès was seated next to birkin on a flight from paris to london when her always present straw bag (also very chic) fell over and all of her contents in the bag fell to the floor. embarrassed, she went on to explain how she could never find a leather bag she liked- in 1984, he created a leather bag for her- the birkin bag! an icon was born!

personally, i love a birkin bag, but to be honest i love anything that is hermès, however, i do think the bag has lost a little of it’s mystic! when the likes of the kardashian’s and every other not so chic celebrity has one it’s time to store it for a few years!

a birkin is an investment in luxury- a black and a saddle tan one are musts! how about a chocolate brown crocodile one? gold hardware please! it’s classic, timeless and will once again be chic!

if you can, i say invest, keep, rotate and give! every daughter will want to experience the mystic- now that’s chic!
