i met miles redd a few months ago at a book signing for his new book, the big book of chic. i loved the book so much that i decided it would be a the perfect christmas gift to give. how could it not be? i mean the title alone speaks to everything i love! miles graciously and kindly signed all the books for me!

at the book signing the idea to have miles be a part of “MDS Interviews” was born. i have to say miles’ warmth, kindness and southern charm was very refreshing and most welcomed here in la. after the question and answers were exchanged the idea emerged to have miles’ part 1 of the interview be on christmas eve and part 2 be on christmas day- i can’t think of a better christmas gift for me and for you, can you?!

then, to top it all off, a few weeks ago i was planning a trip to nyc to shop for the holidays and for clients. miles so kindly invited me over to his townhouse, yes, the 1826 townhouse that we all love! and let me tell you i have been in a lot of amazing homes, but this one has to be at the top of the list!

it was everything and more- the pale blue facade, the striped awnings, then there were plaster palms, zebra doors, red velvet banquettes, books galore, pink walls, black and white glassed rooms (yes, black and white glassed rooms), art everywhere, chinoiserie, treillage, tented bathrooms, mirrored beds and mirrored rooms (yes, mirrored rooms)! i could go on and on, but i’ll let the pictures continue the story.

however, the best part of this story is that the gift of miles continues. i’ve always wanted to feature his home in my favorite home series and i can’t think of a better way than as a part 3 to an already perfect christmas story, better yet, i’d like to think of it as a great start to the new year! if 2013 is going to anything like this- it’s going to be a very chic, glamorous and stylish year!

thank you miles! here’s to doors, lampshades, dreaming, myrtle topiaries, being party-ready and top hat’s. merry christmas and happy new year!

Photographs from the big book of chic, and believe it or not, a few by jamie and me.
