i’m going to take a break from our normal schedule. sunday’s are usually all about my favorite books- sunday book club. however, everyone needs a break or a vacation- so how about a weekend trip to the beverly hills hotel?!

michael and i both looked at each other this weekend and said let’s have a getaway. we only had a night so we didn’t go too far, we went down the street to the beverly hills hotel- i think this is what you call a staycation?! we have been going to the polo lounge for dinner or the fountain coffee room for breakfast for years, but we have never stayed over night.

there has been lot’s of fuss lately about the hotel. it’s celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary (see video here) and going under a big renovation- i only wish someone like miles redd was doing it- he knows glamour!

there are so many off and bad things about it that it’s good- you know that kind of place?! it’s very pink and green, which i kinda like, and of course i love the iconic palm leaf wallpaper! although it is all very stereotypical beverly hills, the hotel is chic, glamorous and stylish- you feel like you are somewhere special, on a special vacation! and the people watching is insane!

while there i couldn’t help but get caught up in the hotels history and the cool factor of it all. i even could see the céline spring 2013 advertising campaign by juergen teller being shot there- can’t you? as you know i’m crazy about céline, now i’m crazy about the beverly hills hotel. the best of both worlds coming together for my weekend staycation! enjoy!

  1. Mark, you should definitely do more “staycation” posts – you are obviously in the midst of all things “chic and glamorous” out there in california!

I love the Hollywood Hotel: all of its history and stories; love the kitschy decor (in some respects is timeless), but I do agree with you about Miles Redd though, he would do a fabulous job.

You have inspired me to do my own staycation post; I’m just outside Cincinnati and have always wanted to stay at the cincinnatian hotel downtown – 130 yrs. old and is a 4-star hotel with a 4 diamond restaurant (the palace) – it’s a beautiful place!

Thank you for the celine pics – gorgeous as always!

  2. Fabulous photos of the Iconic pink Beverly Hills hotel…..love the banana leaf wall paper and the celine model is gorgeous too!!
