i love the combination of blue and green, so much so, that i have a pinterest board inspired by it (see it here). no one did blue and green better than the legendary french decorator madeline castaing. her homes in france were pleasure domes for the eyes, a complete fantasy. her fabrics, wallpapers and signature animal print carpet are as relevant today as they were way back when.

the spring 2014 couture shows just took place in paris. the trend of the season was pastels. i couldn’t help but think about madeline castaing’s and her gorgeous french interiors as all the mint green, pale blue and robins egg blue confections went down the runways- chanel, dior and GV showcased the blue and green color combination i love best.

i always love to connect interiors to fashion and vice versa. i couldn’t help think about how madeline castaing’s home, la maison de lèves, would be a perfect backdrop for these collections. it will be interesting to see what the advertising ends up being for these collections. i think this post might make it easy for all them!

all photographs of madeline castaing’s interiors from the book l’esprit des lieux– the same book with hubert de givenchy’s french chateau that i featured a few weeks ago- enjoy!
