WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO JUST ONE

a fews ago i was interviewed by my friend preston davis for her fabulous blog keep it chic/ see interview here. one of the questions she asked me was a question i ask everyone i interview, “what is your favorite book?” well, not so easy to answer when your completely obsessed with them and surrounded by stacks and stacks of books everywhere…

a favorite… just one… oh my, that’s tough…well, if i had to say just one i’d have to say it’s Vogue Living: Houses, Gardens, People by Hamish Bowles/ buy here. it came out in 2007 and to be honest i look at it on a weekly basis. i never grow tired or cease to find inspiration in the beauty of all the homes and gardens throughout the book.

the first thing i do when i get a new vogue is thumb like three quarter of the way through, near the back and see what hamish is featuring each month. it’s always a delight, a feast for the eyes, a beautiful story… month after month they seem to always showcase the best homes, the chicest gardens, the most relevant people…. i guess that’s why when i had to pick just one i picked this one- enjoy a few of my favorite houses, gardens and people in the book, after all it is sunday, time for sunday book club.

  1. Dear Mark,
let me start by saying that I love love love your blog. I just recently found it and I am so excited to read it every time you post.
The Vogue book you mentioned today is also my most favorite book ever! I never ever get tired of looking at it. I had the fortunate opportunity to have Hamish as a dinner partner a couple of years ago. For me, it was like sitting next to the queen of England. I ran into him a few months ago here in Paris and of course he had the low down on all of the best exhibits. chicest man alive. Thank you for your blog and I’m pretty sure we need to be friends.
