everyone loves to getaway for a holiday, and for some reason memorial day seems like a holiday you should spend near the water, on a boat.
when i saw this boat house designed by michael s. smith, along with architect dennis rupert of hbra architects, in the most recent issue of architectural digest i thought it seemed like the perfect memorial day getaway.
the boat house on lake geneva in Wisconsin was originally built back in the 1920’s. michael looked to wood boats from the 1920’s and 1930’s as inspiration for the renovation. you can most definitely see the influence with the mahogany wood and porthole windows… and of course the blue interiors completely set a nautical tone.
i hope you enjoy a little boat house getaway today and happy memorial day!
