CAPRI STYLE

if you are on instagram it seems like everyone has been in capri this summer…. seeing all the pictures makes you kind of feel like you are there too….or wish you were there too!

i visited capri several years ago and like everyone who has been there you get completely taken with the beauty, glamour and the style. i have memories of cobble stone walk ways that wind all around, store fronts with baskets and sandals, all white rooms with slipcovers and curtains blowing in the wind, long lunches, late dinners, spectacular views.

capri is known for it’s style, everyone there looks so chic. i found this book at barney’s a few years ago called capri: fragments of style. the book is full of the chic set in capri- audrey, jackie, valentino, sophia, brigitte, ingrid and greta- i absolutely love greta garbo, talk about chic!

capri style is timeless, so classic, seems effortless- i love how all the shirts have perfectly rolled sleeves, how all the trousers are slightly cropped and sit high on the waist, all the boatnecks, double breasted blazers, all the sandals, wicker bags, straw hats and the lace up espadrilles…..

you actually don’t have to be in capri to have capri style… they make it look so easy and it’s so chic!

  2. It is the ultimate chic holiday spot. I adore capri Since my first visit 7 years ago. It has retained it’s charm over the decades unlike Many of the 1950ies jet set hotspots. Looking at the old pictures you posted i easily recoGnise the capri of today – the clock tower behind ingrid Bergman, the tabac shop behind Edward Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot Walking down towards the quisisana hotel and Jackie walking up from the same hotel. All exist today as they were. You are so right about capri style: it’s Breton stripes, white linen, straw baskets, beautiful flat sandals, capri pants and overall elegant simplicity. IN short, it’s very MDS!
