Fresh Air in the Hamptons
Summer has arrived, and with it the easy elegance of long, light-filled days. There’s something magical about June in the Hamptons—when the freshly cut grasses glow emerald green, the sky stretches out in an endless expanse of blue, and the sea sparkles under golden sunlight. Out east, summer feels like a Nancy Meyers movie: warm, relaxed, and timeless.
This month, our muse is the effortlessly iconic Lauren Hutton. Sporty, classic, and undeniably American, she embodies a kind of beauty that never tries too hard. With her linen shirts, sun-washed denim, and windblown hair, she captures the very spirit of the season—free, fresh, and unstudied. Her style reminds us that simplicity can be the most elegant choice of all.
That idea comes to life in our latest featured project: an East Hampton weekend home just steps from the beach and tucked within walking distance of town. Though it’s a new build, we sought to give it soul—to create a home that felt like it had always been there.
We used a very distinct color palette in this house: creamy whites, a wide range of blues, robin’s egg, and leaf greens that reflect the Hamptons’s manicured boxwoods; happy sunshine yellows; and ivories as pure as the sand on Two Mile Hollow Beach. We leaned into beloved regional motifs—myrtle topiaries, blue hydrangeas, hurricane lanterns, ticking stripes, and diminutive florals—then added an edge with unexpected moments: modern art, bold scale, and geometric patterns like windowpane checks in varying sizes.
June always reminds us that design, at its best, reflects the moment we’re in: bright, breezy, and beautifully unforced. This house captures that spirit. And so does Lauren. Together, they inspire us to embrace what we love most about this season: the lightness, the layers, the feeling that life—like a blue hydrangea—is in full bloom.
