From Mark's Desk
As May ushers in the warmth of summer, I find myself reflecting on the beauty of new beginnings. Much like the start of the new year in January, May brings a sense of renewal and opportunity, inviting us to reimagine and reinvent. During these moments of transition, I am drawn back to the timeless charm of blue and white - a classic pairing that never fails to captivate.
My recent trip to Portugal left a distinct mark on my creative vision. I was inspired by the intricate blue and white tiles adorning the facades of historic buildings and the delicate blue and white details that graced every corner. This experience found its way into our latest collaboration with Schumacher, where echoes of Portuguese influence resonate through our wallpaper panels. As I created this month's moodboard, The Montecito Porcelain panel from my collection with Schumacher emerged as the perfect backdrop for my inspiration.
In the realm of interior design, nothing quite compares to the timeless elegance of blue and white, particularly in tiles. From Mark Hampton's blue and white breakfast room in the Hampton's designed for the Steinbergs to the blue and white tiled colonnades at Château du Groussay to Claude Monet's kitchen at Giverny, these rooms serve as a timeless testament to the enduring appeal of this classic color palette. As we navigate this season of renewal let's draw inspiration from the enduring allure of blue and white, creating stories of beauty that transcend time.
