Travel has a way of shifting our perspective and bringing new color, inspiration and possibility into focus. Our “Tangier Tent,” created for this year’s Flower Magazine showhouse in Nashville, Tennessee, is a tribute to one such journey. Mark’s summer vacation to Tangier, Morocco, where the color and pattern, architecture and gardens, and ryads and medinas left a lasting impression, inspired and informed the design of the Salon and Bar at the showhouse.

Like Yves Saint Laurent retreating to Morocco between Paris collections, Mark was drawn to the serenity and creativity the city inspires. His stay at Villa Mabrouka, formerly Saint Laurent’s vacation home, offered the ultimate immersion that shaped the palette, textures, and mood of our spaces at the showhouse.

Fully tented in a custom emerald stripe by Brunschwig & Fils, meticulously installed by our longtime collaborators at Valley Studio, the Salon exudes an effortless elegance and sense of escape. A silk Fortuny lantern floats overhead, while favorite pieces from our collections with Chaddock Home and Hudson Valley Lighting bring comfort, craftsmanship, and a touch of glamour to the mix. Antique Tuareg mats borrowed from FJ Hakimian in New York City ground the space while a beautiful piece of art by Kit Reuther, Mark’s friend of over 30 years, centers the room.

In the Bar, we were lucky to collaborate with our decorative painter, Joseph Steiert, who hand-stenciled ivory accents onto the emerald green lacquered cabinets and paneling. Moroccan-inspired lights from Vaughan Lighting create elegant reflections of light in the lacquered room.

It’s a space that invites you to pause, wander, and drift to places far from home. With every stripe, texture, and glimmer of light, it quietly carries you to Tangier. One moment you’re in Nashville, the next you’re wandering a Moroccan ryad in your imagination. Endless thanks to our collaborators, vendors, artisans and workrooms who helped us bring these spaces to life, as well as the wonderful Flower Magazine and Pfeffer Terrode teams. None of this would have been possible without them!
