I recently just bought a property in Ojai and we are going to build a dream home. We are calling it ‘Orange Hill.’ To follow along with our project, click here. I’m thinking it is not only a weekend place but a country home. A place to rest, unwind and rejuvenate along the side nature. There will be lots of gardens to plan and a producing citrus grove. When I think of this place and this lifestyle I envision neutrals along with Rich greens and blues, lots of textures, layers and Patinas. I also think about Fall with cool mornings and even cooler nights. The mudroom will be full of jackets, sun hats, garden totes and cardigans. This is what’s on “Mark’s Desk” right now- can you smell the citrus, feel the textures, see the sunsets and hear the melody of nature? I can and it makes me even more anxious for fall.

PORTOLA VALLEY PROJECT
This is a project of ours from several years ago in Portola Valley, California. The house was recently featured in Elle Decor Magazine and really exemplifies the county style that I’m in the mood for right now. It’s casual, comfortable, and inviting, yet timeless and elegant. The house truly represents the people who live there and how they live. The clients love to garden and to entertain. The sensational gardens on the property inspired the color palette of the interiors and informed the peaceful and natural tone of the project. As you tour the house and read the story you can definitely see how this project influenced my current mood and Inspired how I think about an ideal country house.
