In the Mood...
It's June, it's Summer, and I'm longing for travel. I'm inspired this month by bright and cheerful reds and corals, partnered with bold blues. Doris Duke's Hawaiian home "Shangri La" calls to me with its beautiful painted tiles, vibrant gardens, and rich materials. Doris built Shangri La in celebration of Eastern and Islamic art after extensive travel in the Middle East and South Asia. Of course I love to see my Chaddock pieces in this scheme, and I always love Iksel- the Iznik collection is a perfect fit for this aesthetic. In the spirit of layering all these rich patterns and colors, this month I'd like to celebrate some of the talented decorative painters & makers we love to work with. Here, shown from top to bottom, the Hyacinth Table in #210 Blue Ground applied with a worn technique, the Zinnia Bedside Table in #280 St. Giles Blue in a worn technique, and the Posy Side Table in #288 Vardo finished in a glazed technique.

Made in America, but inspired by traditional Indian textiles, my "Ojai Paisley" is handprinted on a cotton linen blend. I love that the border can be used on its own as trim if you'd like to layer it with another fabric for an upholstery or drapery detail. Infinite application and layering options!

The Ojai Rug I designed for Annie Selke is woven in India. Dhurries are my favorite kind of rugs to use in projects and I love that this one is made in that tradition but with a modern geometric diamond pattern.
