MDS Timeless Neutrals
After my recent trip to New York, I am feeling more inspired than ever to welcome the beauty of fall. There's a unique charm to the city this time of year when the air turns crisp and the streets come alive with vibrant autumn hues. It's the perfect moment to embrace layering, pulling out the luxurious textures of cashmere and tweed that define this season.
When I think of October, I envision a palette steeped in rich, luxurious neutrals - deep, chocolate browns that evoke the beauty of falling leaves, complemented by warm camel tones and soft ivory accents - all highlighted with touches of brass. These colors create a serene yet sophisticated backdrop, perfect for both fashion and interior design. This month, I'm celebrating classic, tailored styles: sumptuous cashmere sweaters, elegant tweed blazers, supple suede pieces, chic turtlenecks, and warm faux furs.
This season also prompts me to reflect on the timeless work of great American decorators like Billy Baldwin and Albert Hadley. Their genius in employing rich, neutral palettes continues to inspire. Both were masters at creating classic and timeless spaces that are not only visually beautiful but also inviting and harmonious. They remind us that our homes should be a sanctuary - a blend of both beauty and comfort.
