Veranda November/December 2020

I'm so proud that this month in Veranda magazine, a project very near and dear to my heart is being featured! The family this home belongs to has become special friends as we've had the privilege of designing not one, but three homes for them over the years! This home in the Palisades is a particular favorite of mine. It was built in the 80's, but we wanted it to feel like it had been built in the 30's. The client loves blue and white but we wanted to use it differently than their other homes in Montecito and Malibu. We looked to Provence for inspiration and incorporated checks, batiks, embroideries, ladder back and wicker details. This project is also featured in my new book, More Beautiful, as part of the introductory chapter. Interior design is so special because you're truly creating the homes that people spend their lives in. There's no better feeling when you get to know a client and they start to feel like family. It's fulfilling to know them, and see them live their lives in the homes you've helped them create.

More Beautiful is organized by style of home, demonstrating our design signatures in a variety of settings. If you shop at the link below, your copy will be signed!

You can still order signed copies of my first book, Beautiful, anytime you order through the website (direct link below!). Beautiful and More Beautiful are best enjoyed together.

I'd like to use this "Celebrate" section to give thanks to some very special vendors who were instrumental in this project. Of course, every project takes an army, and this list could be 10 times as long, but to these 6 vendors, I want to give an extra special thank you for your help on this, and many projects!

The dining room chandeliers, as well as many fantastic accessories in this home were found at Formations. I love their beautiful reproductions of historic pieces.

Many of the beautiful blue and neutral fabrics throughout this project are from Schumacher, a longtime admired vendor and collaborator.

Any project that has Soane pieces throughout is bound to be beautiful. This home has beautiful rattan wrapped chairs in multiple spaces.

I always say every room should have at least one amazing antique, and Charles Jacobsen was the source of many of this home's most special pieces.

Iksel's Canton Reverie paper is used in the main powder room in this project. Dimonah and Mehmet have become friends through our work together. Their work is unparalleled!
