From Mark's Desk
In planning my new home in Ojai, Orange Hill Farm, I've found myself completely obsessed with all things citrus. What struck me most upon visiting the property for the first time, besides the endless possibilities of a blank slate, was the eight acres of existing citrus trees. Since then, shades of yellow have crept into the schemes for our various design projects and for the future Orange Hill. This time of year in Southern California, the temperatures are rising and the air is filled with the sweet smell of citrus trees in bloom, so a celebration of yellow seems in order.
On my desk right now is a beautiful blend of inspiring yellow hues, anchored by Iksel's vibrant "Livia's Garden." Complementing these sunny tones is a balance of patterns and textures. A small-scale geometric print from Fortuny is offset by Soane's "Scrolling Fern," while a soft velvet counterbalances a lightweight linen. I feel so privileged to share in the excitement and enjoy the process of creating Orange Hill Farm with all of you. Can you smell the citrus?
